STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENTS

Structural assessments refer to an inspection of a residential or commercial property where all visible areas of the structure are carefully inspected to find any structural deficiencies such as foundation issues, excessive deflections, undersized framing, retaining walls failures, improper deck framing and/or connections. The assessment takes the form of a signed engineering report listing the findings (with supporting pictures) as well as recommendations.
DECK INSPECTIONS, REINFORCEMENTS

Deck structures in the high country can sometimes be as high as 30 ft. up in the air. Failure of a deck could lead to catastrophic outcomes. We provide deck inspections to ensure that your deck was properly designed and framed. If inadequacies were found, we can engineer repairs and provide you with the adequate information (written report, engineering details) to provide to the builder of your choice for them to execute on the repair/reinforcement plan.
We also can provide reinforcement design when adding specific items on a deck such as a hot tub, sauna or any heavy item.
WALL REMOVALS FOR REMODELING

When deciding to remodel your house, removing walls can become part of the scope. Determining if a wall is load bearing can be challenging and is best done by an experienced, licensed structural engineer.
Removing a load bearing wall requires to design appropriately sized beams which will be supported safely all the way down to the foundation.
BEAM DESIGNS

Almost any new house built requires wood or steel beams to be designed. As houses have become increasingly more complex with large vaulted living rooms, tall window walls, or large decks, the need for structural beams has also increased. A licensed engineer will calculate the code required loads to be applied to size the beam appropriately. This will ensure that the beam will have the required strength but will also not deflect over certain code limits. The results can be produced as a letter or drawings based on the project. That information can then be provided to the builder who will confidently be able to install the appropriately sized beam.
DECK DESIGNS

If you plan on building a new deck, having a licensed engineer design the deck and provide you with plans is the best way to make sure that the deck will be built up to the local building code requirements. This also helps the builder in having a set of plans he will be able to follow.
ENGINEERING DESIGN FOR REPAIRS

We also provide engineering design for repairs on a multitude of typical structural deficiencies, here are a few examples : foundation deficiencies, undermined deck footings, improperly supported crawlspace beams, undersized beams, incorrect framing connections...etc.
